Brooklyn Montgomery, a Brigham Young-bound senior at Campo Verde High, captured her first career Division 2 crown in the girls shot put with a fifth-round mark of 40-7.25 (12.38m) at the Arizona Interscholastic Association state championship meet at Deer Valley High. Montgomery elevated from 19th in the shot put as a freshman to fourth as a sophomore to runner-up last season, before securing the crown.
